Parents and carers are able to make application for student enrolment at Middle Ridge State School at any time throughout the year. Acceptance of enrolment applications will be subject to eligibility as described within the school’s Enrolment Management Plan (PDF, 305 KB).

Enrolment procedures

Prior to enrolment, parents/carers will be required to participate in an interview with either the principal or deputy principal.

In order to enrol, parents should first contact us to arrange for an appointment. Office staff will advise parents of the documentation they will need to provide to the school depending on whether students are enrolling from another Queensland State School, non-government school, from interstate or overseas.

The following documentation will ordinarily be required prior to or at the time of the enrolment interview:

  • Proof of residence - required before any student may be enrolled at Middle Ridge State School.
  • Original birth certificate, birth certificate extract or passport - required for children entering prep or arriving from interstate or overseas.
  • Report cards and records of previous schooling are very helpful in meeting student’s needs (may not be necessary if student is transferring from a Queensland State School).
  • Special needs information -  reports from specialists or medical practitioners and health providers that may help us to meet the specific or special needs of your child.)

An application for enrolment form (PDF, 2.3MB) should be completed prior to an interview.

Catchment area

Only students who reside within the catchment area are automatically eligible for enrolment. Parents of students residing outside the catchment are invited to contact us to determine the availability of places or eligibility for enrolment.

The Queensland Government’s School Catchment maps page will allow you to see whether or not you live in the Middle Ridge State School catchment area.

Prep enrolments

Prep year students may be enrolled in a similar manner and on the same basis as students in all other year levels. Age eligibility requirements apply however. To be eligible to enrol in the 'Prep Year' program, a child must have turned 5 years of age by 30 June in the year in which the child is to commence in the prep year. View the Department's online calculator to determine when your child can commence their preparatory year. This requirement may be relaxed for students enrolling from interstate where it can be demonstrated that a child is/has been enrolled in a state authorised formal education program.

Enrolment of children of Defence Force families

Children of serving Defence Force personnel are eligible for enrolment at Middle Ridge State School if they reside either within or outside the geographic/enrolment catchment area.
